EXECUTIVE CHEF WARREN WEISS

Chef Warren discovered his passion for cuisine at a very young age. Chef Warren credits his upbringing as the strong foundation in which he has built his career as a professional chef. Warren began his culinary experience at Indianapolis hot spot, Something Different Restaurant, as a cook, where he gained culinary knowledge and technique. Warren went off to Hyde Park, New York to attend The Culinary Institute of America, where he obtained his degree in culinary arts and completed an internship at the nationally recognized Blackbird in Chicago, Illinois.

Upon graduation from culinary school, Chef Warren returned home to Indianapolis for a couple of years to work in various positions in professional kitchens, but still felt the need for more excitement. Chef Warren packed up everything he owned and moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he would soon find himself under the instruction of Chef Frank Stitt at Highlands Bar and Grill. He spent five years under Stitt’s direction, absorbing his philosophy and preparation of southern cuisine, as well as Stitt’s love for Italian and Mediterranean cuisines.

In September 2011, Chef Warren teamed up with friend and local restauranteur, Brett MacDonald to form the groundwork for MetroPrime Steakhouse. Chef Warren and MacDonald are excited to be able to offer a local steakhouse option for Birmingham diners. The menu at MetroPrime Steakhouse is ever changing based on the seasons and features our local farmers.
